Terms of Service
Last updated 9 June 2026. Plain-language on purpose. If you have questions, ask on
Discord.
1. The service
SpriteLab (spritelab.dev) generates and processes pixel art sprites using AI models and our own image pipeline. It's operated from the United Kingdom. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.
2. Accounts
- You need an account to generate sprites. Keep your sign-in method secure; activity on your account is your responsibility.
- One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to collect free credits repeatedly is not allowed, and we actively detect and block it.
- We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service, attempt to circumvent limits, or breach these terms. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why.
3. Credits, subscriptions and billing
- Generation is priced in credits. Different actions cost different amounts, shown in the app before you spend.
- Monthly credits come with a subscription and reset each billing cycle; unused monthly credits don't carry over. Purchased (top-up) credits are bought one-off and don't expire.
- If a generation fails on our side, the credits are refunded to your balance automatically.
- Subscriptions renew monthly through Stripe until cancelled. You can cancel any time from Billing; you keep access until the end of the paid period. Plan changes take effect per Stripe's proration.
- Spent credits aren't refundable as money. For anything billing-related that looks wrong, contact us and we'll sort it; nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights.
4. Your content and generated sprites
- Your uploads stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them solely to run the service (e.g. converting an image you upload into a sprite).
- Free plan: outputs are public. Sprites generated on the free tier are not private or exclusive to you. We may display them on SpriteLab (for example in community galleries or the sprite marketplace), and anyone is free to use them, including in commercial projects. You can use your free-tier sprites for anything too; you just don't get exclusivity or confidentiality. If you need sprites that are private and yours alone, that's what paid plans are for.
- Paid plans: outputs are yours. Sprites you generate on a paid plan are private by default and we claim no ownership over them. Use them for anything, including commercial games and products. If you choose to share one to the community, the sharing is your call per sprite (or via your account default), and you can flip it off at any time.
- For all tiers: the copyright status of AI-generated work varies by jurisdiction; that part isn't ours to grant.
- Don't upload content you don't have the right to use, and don't use the service to imitate a living artist's distinctive style or infringe someone's IP.
5. Acceptable use
- No unlawful, hateful or sexually exploitative content.
- No attempts to overload, reverse-engineer billing, scrape other users' content, or bypass rate limits and credit checks.
- Automated access is only allowed through the official API with a valid key, within its rate limits.
6. Availability and changes
SpriteLab is a fast-moving product. Features, pricing and limits can change; for paid plans we'll give notice of material pricing changes before they affect you. The service is provided "as is" and we don't promise uninterrupted availability, though we take keeping it up seriously.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't legally be excluded (e.g. for fraud).
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes belong to the courts there.
