16x16 sprite generator

Need an item that fits in a 16x16 slot? Micro Pixel makes sprites on a true pixel grid at the size you choose. Pick 16x16 for small icons and items, or go up to 64x64 for more room. The PNG is the actual canvas size, with a clean outline and transparent background.

Pick the size your game needs

  1. Choose a canvas: 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48 or 64x64. The size slider also covers the values between them.
  2. Describe one sprite: a red heart, a gold coin, a sitting fox. Keep the idea simple when space is tight.
  3. Download the PNG at the exact size you picked.

What fits in 16 pixels?

Items and icons suit 16x16. A heart or a coin has a clear shape that can read in a small space. For a character with a face, clothing and a weapon, 32x32 gives you more room. Use 48x48 or 64x64 when the extra detail matters.

The sprite sits inside the canvas with a little transparent margin. A 16x16 canvas does not mean the artwork touches every edge.

Frequently asked questions

Is the downloaded PNG really 16x16?

Yes. Choose a 16x16 canvas and the downloaded PNG is exactly 16 by 16 pixels. The artwork fills most of it, with a little transparent margin.

What other sizes can I choose?

Micro Pixel supports square canvases from 16 to 64 pixels. Presets are 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48 and 64x64, with a slider for sizes in between.

Does the sprite have a transparent background?

Yes. You get a PNG with a transparent background, a clean 1px outline and pixels on a true grid.

Can I make characters as well as icons?

Yes. Small icons and items suit 16x16. Characters usually read better at 32x32 or above, where there is more room for faces, clothing and equipment.

How much does a Micro Pixel sprite cost?

3 credits per sprite on Epic, or 10 on Mythic.

Is Micro Pixel available on the free plan?

No. Micro Pixel in the app requires a Ranger, Knight, Paladin or Dragonlord subscription.
